Student Library Ambassadors
Student Library Ambassadors are students who are (or will become) library advocates. Their mission is to increase student familiarity and usage of our library. As an ambassador, you’ll learn how to leverage the resources, spaces, and services of the library to advance your studies and that of your peers (training will be provided).
You will help organize and create content (such as social media content, book displays, events, and more) for outreach efforts to students. The library will rely on you to be well-versed in social media platforms (including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and TikTok) and to offer new and innovative ideas for social media campaigns.
Working approximately five hours a week, you will work closely with our Diversity, Outreach, and Engagement Librarian and the University Librarian’s office to seek ways to enhance student engagement and promote library services. The best candidates will have creative ideas, good communication skills, and a reasonable degree of technical acumen.
If you are interested in this unique employment opportunity, please submit a short letter (500 words maximum) in PDF format, describing your interest in this role and outlining any applicable experience you have had to liboffice@stfx.ca by March 26th. Please put Student Library Ambassador in the subject line.
The library is seeking candidates who are committed to contributing to the StFX priorities of equity, diversity, and inclusion. A demonstrated ability in fostering a climate of inclusion and cultural safety is a strong asset. Preference will be given to applicants who bring lived experience of historically excluded groups. You are invited to self-identify in your letter of application.
We are committed to providing an inclusive and barrier-free work environment, including through all aspects of the hiring process. If you require support during the hiring process, please contact Human Resources hr@stfx.ca so that accommodations can be put in place to support you. All private information received in relation to your request for support will be kept confidential; only information required to facilitate the accommodation will be shared with the selection committee.
