Book a Test or Exam

How to Book a Test or Exam

Students registered with the Tramble Centre for Accessible Learning are responsible for notifying us of their intent to write their test or exam in one of our testing centres. This ensures necessary arrangements can be made.

Please read the sections below carefully before coming to write your test.

Scheduling a Test or Midterm

Sign into Clockwork to schedule your test/midterm at least 7 days in advance. We require this to ensure a book and proctor can be assigned.

If you miss the 7 day deadline, you will need to write with your class and without accommodations.

If you have a class right before or right after your test, please select one of the time options provided so you are able to get your extra time without missing another class. You will need to remain in the testing room until at least 15 minutes after the class start time.

If you have a class right before or right after your test, please register for the same time as class; however, indicate the conflict in the additional information section of the request so we can work on a solution.

Scheduling a Final Exam

The exam schedule will be posted Monday, September 29 for the Fall term. The deadline for all requests is December 1. Please use the "Book a Final Exam" option for these.

Don't feel well enough to write your final exam?

We cannot change the date of final exams. If you are unable to write your final exam due to illness or other extenuating circumstances, permission to write at another time must be granted by the appropriate Dean.  The exam must be entered into Clockwork for the original date – edits, if needed, will be made by the TCAL Exam Coordinator.

What to expect

What to bring
  • Your student ID to confirm your identification.
  • Only material authorized by your instructors will be allowed in the exam room.
  • Personal belongings such as backpacks are not permitted in the exam room and must be left in front or outside the room.
  • Electronic devices are not permitted unless the device is part of the test, accessibility plan, or authorized by the instructor.
  • Single-use earplugs are available. Please speak to the proctor if needed.
Arriving for your quiz/test/exam
  • You are to arrive 10-15 minutes prior to the start of the quiz/test/exam.
  • The location of the test/exam will be emailed to you 2 days prior to the test/exam.
During your quiz/test/exam
  • Clocks are in each room to enable you to keep track of time during the quiz/test/exam.
  • If you are typing your responses, please ensure you are saving the exam regularly to the USB stick that was provided by the proctor. The proctors will eject the USB once you are done, and they will print it.
  • If you have any questions about the quiz/test/exam, please let the proctor know. They will provide you with a question sheet, which will be sent to your professor. They will update you once a response is received.
  • Students are entitled to washroom breaks. This counts towards your exam time. You cannot bring exam materials with you, use electronic devices, make phone calls, talk, leave the building, or consult any course materials.  If the professor has indicated that students writing in class are not permitted to go to the washroom, you will be escorted.
  • At the end of the quiz/test/exam, please give your test and other material (e.g. memory aid, scrap paper, formula sheet, etc.) to the proctor.
  • If the quiz/test/exam is online, the proctor will ask to see confirmation that you have submitted before exiting the room.
Academic Integrity
  • If you are granted permission to write your exam before or after the scheduled quiz/test/exam for the class, do not disclose or seek any information about the quiz/test/exam.
  • If you are suspected of committing an academic offence, you will be asked to stop writing your quiz/test/exam, and your instructor will be notified.
After you have finished writing

For midterms and quizzes, you cannot leave a testing room until 15 minutes after the class has started writing. For final exams, you are unable to leave the testing room until 30 minutes past the start time of the exam, as posted on the exam schedule. This ensures exam security. For example, if your class is taking an exam at 7pm, but you start earlier to ensure you get your extra time, you cannot leave until 7:30pm.

You do not have access to personal electronic devices during this time (e.g. cell phone, iPad, smart watch, etc.).  Students remain supervised until the wait period is over.

You did it!

Be proud of yourself.
