Biography:

Robert Madden is a full time Professor in Accounting and Finance. He joined StFX faculty in 1971, teaching full time in the Business Program for 47 years. His Professional experience exceeds 20 years as coordinator of Managerial Accounting and Financial Management courses for the Atlantic School of Chartered Accountancy, 15 years as Instructor in Post Graduate Accounting Courses for the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Manitoba and 12 years with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Saskatchewan.

Professor Madden was an Educational Consultant for 20 years to National Public Accounting firms: including KPMG Atlantic and Ontario, Deloitte Atlantic and Ontario, PWC Atlantic, Dunwoody Canada, and Thorne Riddle Ontario. He was also a Professor of Finance, Financial and Managerial Accounting at the Canadian Executive MBA Program in Warsaw Poland for 23 consecutive years, offering lectures on Finance in both the Undergraduate and Post Graduate programs at the West Pomeranian School of Business in Szczecin. Delivered Lectures and Workshops for Bankers in Bydgoszcz and Koszalin on behalf of the National Bank of Canada and the Canada Poland Foundation.

Professor Madden has been President of the Public Accountants Board of N.S. (12 years), Member of Council NSICA (10 years), and Member of numerous other Boards: Major Foods Inc., Martha Home Health, VON, Casket Printing and Publishing Co., Affordable Housing Society, St FX Board of Governors, Interprovincial Education Committee (CICA). He has served on virtually every committee at the university during his tenure. Robert has consulted at the Executive Level: Sobey’s Stores Limited and Empire Corporation (for more than 30 years), Pharmasave Corporation, Insurance Council of Canada and Major foods Inc.
